This was a comment submitted by JDH to one of our articles entitled What Happens When You Quit Smoking and we published it as a post to help give motivation to those soon to be non-smokers. Thank you very much JDH for your story.
Well today marks 5 weeks for me… no cigs. I have smoked for 20 years and have tried to quit a few times in the past, you may have heard people say if you’re not a 100% ready to quit you wont I have found that statement to be true.
After seeing my father dying for the last 10 years due to smoking and now seeing my father-in-law going through the same thing and he is not far from death, I am taking this fight more serious I don’t want to go out like that, for those of you who have not seen the effects of long term smoking take it from me it will change your life.
I have decided to quit using the strong faith/cold turkey method. My smokes cost 4 dollars a pack, I smoked at least two a day that 8 dollars times 30 (4X2=8) (8×30=240) yes $240.00 month in my pocket! If I had chosen to use a substitute like e-cigs I was not saving money… and I have determined that if I need a substitute like that I’m not ready to quit…
Makes sense doesn’t it so my best advise is to prove to your brain that you are in charge of what your body needs… sounds silly but it works you have to re-train your brain that is the key it took me 20 years to figure that one out. Good luck to you all best wishes for u to quit, as far as me it has ended, done, no-more.
Here is another incentive that $240.00 dollars I’m saving each month covers my new car payment plus the full coverage ins. premium!!!
Another non-smoker! If I have done it, if they have done it and so can you! PLEASE quit smoking today!
Again JDH, congratulations and thank you for your story.
