I’m only on day 2 since I quit smoking. This is so far my most successful attempt at quitting. I’m 25, and have been a pack-a-day smoker for nearly 5 yrs. It hasn’t been too hard yet. It does feel kind of funny drinking coffee, or finishing a meal without a smoke. Driving long distances will also feel like a challenge. I’ve quit mostly cold turkey. I did buy a box of Nicolette gum, and I am chewing one only about every 4 hrs. I am also sucking on cinnamon hard candies to suppress cravings. I’m not going to allow myself to relapse this time. I already had my first test, sitting next to a friend smoking. The smoke actually smelled bad to me, rather than pleasant. This is a big positive.
I quit smoking mostly to save $. It just seems like a huge waste of money to continue spending 50+ bucks/wk on cigs.
It’s hard to enjoy a lot of things without a smoke, but I hope in a few weeks that will change.
Pros so far: My teeth already look whiter. Smoking had stained them a light yellowish color, but brushing 3x a day with a good whitening toothpaste has really lightened up back up. My teeth haven’t looked this nice in years. Also, I feel more energetic. I also felt so damn tired or fatigued while I smoked. Now, after just a couple days, I feel motivated and alert.
Cons: I’m experiencing diarrhea right now, and just this morning started getting bad stomach cramps. Hopefully this passes in a couple days. I haven’t had shortness of breath, coughing, headaches, etc as of yet.
Thank you Shane and believe me (us) those cons will not last and will be gone sooner than you thought.
